Jesus, Faith, Works, and Love

So I need to write about this... my heart and souls concern since my previous class.  A verse was shared in my last class concerning the doctrine of whether someone can lose their salvation.  The verse is Matthew 7:21-23 which says “"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'”  This verse scares me, because it makes me think about my faith and my works. Am I just  works based with no true faith in Jesus Christ? Or am I truly living my life for Jesus with faith and my works?
The Bible speaks that works and faith go together in James 2. There are people who claim to be Christians but have never truly put their faith in Jesus Christ but do the works with producing no spiritual fruit. Do not just be a works based Christian and put faith in Jesus. I am not condoning good works for indeed all believers need to do them. But without Christ in our lives.... what are works but nothing. When we do not have faith or no relationship with Christ... the good works a person does are  nothing. I beg and plead that those of you that have been living a works based Christianity to give your life to Jesus.  Works are needed but are not enough to meet God's standard according to the law. We need Jesus, but we need to do works for Jesus in faith and in love.  Without faith and without love  what are we but nothing.
