Gray and Brown Crayons
Last night, I was coloring and cutting out pictures of Thanksgiving food. I'm so grateful for the way God teaches me in the weirdest but most awesome ways. Over the last few months of my life, I have struggled with my and who I was in Christ. There were things that beat me to the ground. They made me feel defeated... self-pity, rejection, regret, doubt, and fear. God has been transforming me and changing me.He is teaching me new things as I walk into a new season of my life. And trust me, gray and brown crayons have a lot to do with it.
The bible speaks against deception and to not deceive other people. The question that came to me tonight, is my life a true reflection of Christ or am just a deception of a hypocritical Christian? What are my actions saying of my testimony in Christ? Are my choices truly reflecting him? I can honestly say yes but no, which makes me an absolute sinner and well lukewarm. And what kind of testimony can we have as Christians if were lukewarm in Christ? The call of Lord to all written in Revelation 3.

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Revelation 3:14-22 NIV
This is such a power packed passage of scripture because of "in your face" words that are spoken. We are commanded and called to not be lukewarm but to seek to be hot or cold. We cannot glory in the things of this world and every measure we have but must seek God for His refined gold and the white clothes to wear. When receive these things in Christ, we ought to do all we can to show others the riches in Christ in all that we do.
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31
How does the title tie into the blog post? It's a weird title but I'm a weird person. As I was coloring last night, I thought I picked up a brown crayon because the paper looked brown, but as I started coloring, the crayon was gray. I came to understand this, Christians may appear as a brown crayon but are actually a gray crayon. So I challenge myself and others to be a genuine as a brown crayon.
