37 Days
I am excited that in 37 days I will be graduating from college with my bachelor's degree. It amazes me that four years have already gone and past. However, tonight I was reminded of a simple truth that all Christians should never forget and even another blog post I wrote on another blog that I no longer use.
- Make Jesus the center of all things.
I know this is easier said than done and here's how I know that. When I was dating a guy, I forgot my first love Jesus Christ. I made my ex-boyfriend the Center when it was supposed to be Jesus. I personally believe the relationship ended because of my idolatry of him on the throne rather than Jesus. When the relationship ended, I was broken and depressed but it was over a period of time I came to realize I had forgotten my first love. Some of you might be thinking, Joy what does this even have to do with you graduating? My friend encouraged me to keep pressing into Jesus and to keep him center as we run the race.
2. Run the race in faithfulness and endurance.
This is outlined in my life verse. Hebrews 12:1-2
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
( ESV)
As you can see the two points tie together into the verses. It is a reminder as we all run the race called life we must keep the focus of Jesus and the gospel at the forefront of our hearts and minds.
