Love: Christ or Aphrodite
I've been quiet for way too long. And to those who read my blog, I'm sorry. I was on vacation visiting family and well I've been a bit lackadaisical. Jesus has done so much work in my life over the past month. He has shaped me and grown me from well different life events.
I've learned about love. The love of Jesus is so selfless. Jesus died so that I can be free. The love of Jesus is simple but yet so complex. It is so easy to misconstrue the true definition of love because of the world we live in. The media being the biggest influencer of how we are suppose to love. Our media displays love aas sensuality and well selfishness istead of what love is supposed to be.... selfless. The sacrifice of Jesus was, is and will always stand for selfless love. Through the son Jesus we are able to see Father God's great love for all by sending his only son from heaven to earth to the cross to the grave aand resurrected so that all might have life and no longer be bound by sin. Love is selfless and not selfish lust. A personal and more recent example of love is my brother. Anyone and everyone that knows me knows my brother is my best friend. My brother has strong negative feelings towards a ride called The Sea Dragon but I absolutely enjoy riding it. The Sea Dragon is viking ship ride that swings back and forth at roughly ninety degree angles with a lap bar over the legs. When we were on vacation, my brother and I were able to ride The Sea Dragon. I wasn't expecting him to go on the ride with me but somehow he did and we even rode in my favorite seat. Yes, this is the love my brother was willing to show me. Selfless not selfish.
I know this picture has been flying through social media due to the song Reckless Love by Bethel Music. The song rings to so much truth to how we should love and need to love. Yet everyday we fail, we fall short and fall to not knowing how to love. In I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris, he writes about the kind of love we should have as Christ does and not as Aphrodite type of love.
Servitude or Sensuality.
The choice is yours to be like Christ or to be like Aphrodite
